Uber Eats will now add a new pickup map feature in the app which will let people search restaurants and merchants near to them. This feature will localize them, enabling users to type in any kind of food they are looking for by using words and emojis to view what’s near, it also includes the correct distance of that user’s location.
This new feature is the newest example of Uber’s intention to make out Eats — a business unit Uber said it will help hit its profitability targets. Earlier the week, Uber stated that it could hit one type of profitability in the third quarter, quicker than expected. Uber announced that it predicts an improvement in gross bookings also stronger adjusted EBITDA during the quarter that it predicted for shareholders in its last investor presentation.
The Feature:
Eats tells this new feature was inspired by feedback of as several as eight out of 10 users that have turned on other map apps that search for food nearby. This feature is operating out globally also should be available now to most users, according to an Uber Eats spokesperson.
Inside the Uber Eats app including the Uber app itself, people could see choices to take like Delivery or Pickup at the top. The map activates if a user chooses Pickup specifically. Typing pizza or burger emoji can guide that user to burger or pizza joints nearby, which the company says generates enhanced functionality which is both a time-saver plus a fun way to search local commerce.
Uber Eats states that 700,000 local restaurants plus merchants are on the pickup map. The company expects a global increase in pickup orders plus said it wants to make it easy for customers to quickly visualize their search results.
