The messaging app telegram has entered the list of apps which are downloaded 1 Billion times across the globe. according to the sensor tower.

Headquartered in Dubai the app was launched in the late 2013, it achieved the milestone on Friday .As is the case with the chief rival of the app WhatsApp, The largest market for Telegram is India. The Globe’s second-largest market of internet approximately represents 22% installs of lifetime, said the Sensor Tower. It’s also followed by countries like Indonesia and Russia which approximately represents 10% and 8% of installations. The install’s of the app accelerated in 2021, which reached about 214.7 million installations in the first half of this year, up to 68% year-over-year from when it was 133 million in H1 2020, it said.

It’s was noting that the installs does not equate to the active userbase of the app. Telegram had about 500 million active users monthly as of early 2021, for instance. But the rise in downloads, which coincides with WhatsApp’s poor handling of relaying its app’s privacy policies to its own userbase, It suggests that Telegram has enjoyed some little attention in recent quarters.

Telegram, which had raised $1 billion early this year, is the 15th app in the globe to have been downloaded a billion times , Sensor Tower said . More apps in the list included WhatsApp, Messenger, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Spotify and Netflix according to Sensor Tower.
